What to ask for when someone else does your shopping
A few things we’ve learned from watching orders go through.
Be specific about the things you care about
“Bananas” is fine. “Bananas, still a bit green” takes two seconds to type and
saves a message later. The note field on each item goes straight to whoever’s
picking it up.
Say yes to substitutions on the boring things
Washing-up liquid is washing-up liquid. Letting your deliverer swap brands on
the things you don’t care about means fewer gaps in the bag.
Use the special request box
It’s the thing a supermarket slot can’t do. “Whatever looks good on the fish
counter, up to £15” works, and it’s how you end up eating better than you
would have from a list.
Keep your cool bag out
If you’re ordering anything chilled, check your deliverer carries it (it’s on
their profile) and leave something out if you won’t be in.
